**Related issue:** Resolves#49276
**New features**
- Added new "Secondary" (bordered, off-white fill) and "Subdued"
(borderless, low-emphasis) button variants to match the Figma spec,
alongside the existing Primary style.
- Allowed rows to be selected in Controls > OS updates.
**Cleanup**
- Once nothing referenced the old styles anymore, fully removed the old
`text-icon`, `brand-inverse-icon`, `inverse-alert`, `inverse`, and
`icon` button variants (type, styles, and Storybook entries) from the
shared `Button` component.
- Removed the `iconStroke` prop, which had become a no-op once the old
variants it supported were gone.
- Renamed `ActionsDropdown`'s variants
(`button`/`brand-button`/`small-button`) to
`subdued`/`primary`/`secondary` to match the same naming used everywhere
else.
- Replaced a one-off dropdown implementation on the Software title page
with the shared `ActionsDropdown` component, instead of maintaining
duplicate styling logic.
- Changed the button name on Host details > Reports > Report details
from "View data for all hosts" to "View report for all hosts" (to match
the previous page's Actions drop-down options).

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Bug Fixes**
* Fixed "select all matching hosts" to display the actual total count
instead of showing an estimate like "50+" in table headers and delete
confirmation dialogs.
* **Tests**
* Updated test cases to reflect accurate host count display behavior
when selecting all matching hosts.

## Summary
Closes#42402
- **Root Cause 1 (Row deduplication):** `DataTable`'s `getRowId` used
`row.id` directly as the react-table row identity. When query results
contain an `id` column with non-unique values (e.g., `SELECT id FROM
processes` where multiple hosts share PID 0), react-table deduplicates
rows with the same row ID, displaying fewer results than expected.
- **Root Cause 2 (Misleading count):** The "Showing X results" count was
derived from react-table's `rows` array, which was already deduplicated.
Fixing Root Cause 1 resolves this as well — all rows are now preserved,
so the count is accurate.
## Changes
- **`DataTable.tsx`**: Changed `getRowId` to append the array index to
the row ID (`${row.id}-${index}` instead of `String(row.id)`),
guaranteeing uniqueness while preserving the `id` prefix.
- **`InstallSoftwareTable.tsx`**: Updated `generateSelectedRows` to
produce keys matching the new `getRowId` format
(`${software.id}-${index}`), so that `defaultSelectedRows` continues to
correctly persist row selection.
## QA
1. Run a live query like `SELECT id FROM processes` targeting multiple
hosts → all rows should appear (no deduplication).
2. Verify the results count matches the actual number of displayed rows.
3. Verify the Setup Experience > Install Software table still correctly
shows pre-selected software with checkmarks persisted across pagination.

## For #28159
- Implement UI capability to run scripts on batches of hosts at a time
- Add new hosts table `Run script` primary action, triggers
- new `RunScriptBatch` modal, allows running scripts on the selected
batch of hosts
- new `RunScriptBatchPaginatedList`, handles logic specific to this
modal, and utilizes the now more flexible `PaginatedList` component
- Widen capabilities of `PaginatedList` component to elegantly handle
more diverse applications, including this one
- Widen capabilities of `ScriptDetailsModal` component to elegantly
handle more diverse applications, including this one
- Streamline updating `state`s on manage hosts page
- Clearer, more concise naming
- [x] Changes file added for user-visible changes in `changes/`
- [x] A detailed QA plan exists on the associated ticket (if it isn't
there, work with the product group's QA engineer to add it)
- [x] Manual QA for all new/changed functionality

relates to #23180
fixes up some issues with showing the correct number of selected
software to install and also with the table row selection behaviour.
We've had to create a couple new props on the `TableContainer`
component; one called `defaultSelectedRows` and the other
`persistSelectedRows`.
`defaultSelectedRows` will allow you to specify the default rows that
are selected in the table on the initial render. This is done with an
object with the key being the index of the row and the value being a
boolean.
```tsx
// the first and third rows will be selected in this case
<TableContainer
defaultSelectedRows={{0: true, 2: true}}
...
/>
```
`persistSelectedRows` will allow the row selections to persist across
search query changes. This defaults to false.

## Addresses #18881 and #18858
- Fix the bugs, memoize various props to optimize table rendering
## QA
In addition to the bugs outlined in the addressed issue, this PR
contains rendering optimizations. Please check these functionalities,
which should be unaffected (and were so in my own testing) but should be
double-checked:
- [ ] create query
- [ ] delete query
- [ ] empty state
- [ ] changing platform dropdown
- [ ] different sort orders
- [ ] delete query from table action
- [ ] results count change

## Addresses #11856
Improve performance of the rendering of live query results by:
- rendering the table on a set interval instead of with each new result
- preventing redundant rerenders of various sorts
Partial run, with memory leak:
<img width="2552" alt="partial run with memory leak, after smaller
optimizations, before debouncing queryResults"
src="https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/assets/61553566/5288bffb-6940-43da-9083-59adb4a25916">
Full run after debounce, no memory leak (10x improvement of max JS heap
size):
<img width="2559" alt="full run after debounce, no memory leak"
src="https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/assets/61553566/be056610-e7a5-4289-a433-1070cf016e83">
**NOTE** - there are further optimizations to try on this page, and the
debounce interval can potentially be shortened to improve UX. In
experimenting with that, it's not immediately clear what a good balance
of UX / performance is. Since the customer seems keen to solve this, I
think we should merge as-is and send them a demo build to confirm this
fixes their problem, then iterate once they've confirmed it does.
